Yes, yes it's been a long time between updates. Lets not get into that....
K its doing well. She is very much fun to play with and has quite a large vocabulary, both english and japanese.
Interestingly enough she won't talk to me in japanese not matter how much I try. She will use mostly japanese to H and only reverts to english when she doesn't know the japanese equivalent. Because if day care she its much more fluent in english, although her english is behind the rest if her class. We are not concerned though, as this is expected of bilingual kids.
She has many concepts down too. She had most of the basic colors down. Right now her favorite color seems to transitioning from pink to purple.
In terms of shapes she us doing well and is able to recognize and name the following in english and japanese: circle, square, triangle
In english she also can name and recognize: cloud, squiggle, heart, diamond, rectangle and pentagon.
The last two are more recent (about 3 months ago) while all of the others she's been able to recognize for over 6 months, perhaps even earlier than that.
Pentagon and rectangle caught us off guard as we didn't teach her that. She just recognized it one day, which shocked me, thinking that I had a child prodigy on my hand I quickly drew a hexagon, which she promptly identified as a pentagon.
She is now aware of hexagons but can really distinguish then from pentagons, which is fair enough when you can't really count properly yet.
Enough from me for now, here's a recent pics of kaitlyn.
